Dear Marle: Many thanks for your very nice letter and the kind words that you had to say about my work. It is deeply and sincerely appreciated. I am sending you my picture under separate cover. Thanks again for writing and next time I get to Mahanoy City, I'll be looking forward to seeing you again. Best wishes. Cordially,

Dear Marle: Many thanks for your letter. I certainly appreciate your kind words about my work and your interest in my career. Right now, I am back in New York and will be doing a series of radio and TV shows for the next few weeks. Such shows as the Good Morning Show over CBS-TV and the Herb Sheldon Show over ABC-TV are scheduled for tomorrow, Tex and Jinx is scheduled for Monday over NBC-TV, and I will be doing the Robert Q. Lewis Radio Show over CBS for the entire week of January 14th. These are all to plug my new record, but the next big appearance will be the Ed Sullivan Show in a few weeks. Naturally, I am delighted that you are interested in forming a fan club chapter for me. Right now, all the clubs are writing and phoning their favorite disc jockeys asking them to play my latest Columbia recording, I Love My Baby, and they are urging all their friends to do the same. This can mean a great deal to the success of the record. Incidentally, if you write to my manager, Lloyd Leipzig of 119 West 57th St., in New York, he will be happy to provide membership cards and autographed photos for each of the members. Simply advise him how many in your group. Thanks again for writing and best wishes for 1957. Cordially,

January 18, 1957 Dear Marle: Lloyd Leipzig has just told me that you have started a fan club chapter for me. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your efforts on my behalf. I sincerely appreciate them. Hope to see you soon and say "hello" in person. Until then, all the best. Hope that you will have a chance to catch me sing my record I Love My Baby on the Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday and the Jonathan Winters TV Show over NBC on February 2th. All the best. Cordially,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your letter. It is always nice to hear from you. I am delighted that you enjoyed the Circus Time Show - it was fun doing. And - I hope that you are feeling better by now. The other side of I Love My Baby is called Egghead and it is a cute song. The plans for a Broadway musical are far from definite so that I cannot talk about it yet. I too am looking forward to meeting with all the fan club members some day. Right now, with my schedule so tight, it doesn't look as if I will have any free time for at least a month. I go up to Canada this weekend to appear on TV there, but return to do Bandstand on NBC radio on February 15th and will appear on the Good Morning Show on CBS-TV on February 28th. Thanks for writing and best wishes. Cordially,

February 12, 1957
Dear Marle: Thanks again for writing. Naturally, I am very pleased that you enjoyed the Jonathan Winters Show. You are quite correct. Egghead is on the other side of I Love My Baby. I will be appearing on Bandstand over NBC radio on February 13th, then on the Morning Show over CBS-TV on February 28th. However, right now, with my work schedule being as busy as it is, it does not look as if I will get away from New York for some time. All the best to you and your family. Cordially,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your letter and for your lovely Valentine. Yes, it is true that I am to replace Giselle McKenzie on the Hit Parade. I am happy to say that I will be a regular on the show starting in September. Will be on the Good Morning Show this week, and will do my best to mention the fan club, but they usually do not allow this. On Saturday, March 2nd, I will be one of the leads in an afternoon spectacular called Your Figure Is Your Fortune over NBC. Hope that you will be watching. Best. Cordially,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your letter. I am so glad that you are enjoying the shows that I'm doing. In answer to your question, I did attend the Academy Award presentations and enjoyed it very much. But my biggest thrill in Hollywood was taking a cinemascope screen test for Twentieth Century Fox. I'm delighted over the reaction to Make Like a Bunny, Honey, and it looks as if it could be a very big hit. Best wishes. Sincerely,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your letter. In answer to your questions, I did meet so many movie personalities on my trip to Hollywood, actually too many to enumerate; however, Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra and Shelly Winters are a few. In answer to your other question, i am not playing any night clubs in the New York area right now, nor does it look as if I will in the near future. However, I will be making appearances at colleges throughout the country in the next few weeks, including the University of Indiana and Drake University. The Martin Block Show proved to be a pleasant experience. It is sort of a TV disc jockey show and reaches millions of listeners. Thanks for all the work that your are doing on Make Like a Bunny, Honey. Best,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your letter and the kind invitation. Unfortunately, due to my extremely busy schedule, it will be impossible for me to visit Mahanoy City. I'm off on tour shortly and there will be no TV appearances for a month. My next show will be the Woolworth Hour over CBS radio on May 19th. As far as a show of my own is concerned, I will be tied up with Your Hit Parade for several years, and you will be able to watch me every Saturday night starting September 7th. I do, however, have my own syndicated film show sponsored by the National Guard which is shown in over one hundred markets throughout the country - though I do not know if you can get it in your home town. Best wishes. Cordially,

Dear Marle; Many thanks for your letter. I had a wonderful time last week in Des Moines, Iowa, at Drake University. Am in New York to do the Steve Allen Show this Sunday, then I'm off to the University of Indiana, then return to New York for the Woolworth Hour on CBS radio on May 19th. Hope you are feeling well. Attached is a complete list of my Columbia recordings, as per your request. Best,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your letter and the clipping about your fan club. Once again, I sincerely appreciate all your efforts. My next TV appearance will be on the Arthur Murray Show over NBC on May 28th. I hope that you will be watching. After that, I open a ten-day engagement at the Americana Hotel in Miami Beach on June 7th. And - certainly you can send the picture taken with me to Hit Parader Magazine. Best. Cordially,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your note. Naturally, I am delighted to learn that the fan club is growing so rapidly. You have certainly done a fine job. Lloyd Leipzig tells me that he mailed you additional membership cards and pictures today. Nothing else new - must dash off to a rehearsal for the Arthur Murray Show. Best,

Dear Marle: Thanks for the letter. I do approve of your title for your fan club chapter and I will do my best to drop you a post card from Florida. Best. Cordially,

Dear Marle: Many thanks for your letter. I am delighted that you enjoyed the Hit Parade. I did receive your telegram and I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Do not yet have an album release, but we are working on this now. As yet, there is no title. In addition to the Hit Parade every week, I am doing the Ed Sullivan Show this Sunday and a NBC spectacular with Ed Wynn on September 19th, so I am very busy. Hope this finds you well. As ever,

Dear Marle: Many thanks for your letter and the kind words that you had to say about my TV shows. I am happy that you are enjoying them. I enjoyed the summer stock tremendously. High Button Shoes was with Denise Lor, Hal Leroy and Paul Gilbert and was great fun. Reluctant Debutante was not with a name cast, but it was great experience for me, as it was a straight dramatic role, a British drawing room comedy, and done in a theatre-in-the-round - all new experiences for me. Unfortunately, I did not bother to save programs from either of the performances. Thanks again for writing and best. As ever,

Dear Marle: Thanks again for writing. Naturally, it will be quite all right to send out the information on me to Turkey - though I can't imagine them liking my records. Am attaching two copies of my most recent picture. Hope you like it. Best wishes. Cordially,

Dear Marle: Many thanks for your letter and the kind words. I hope that by now you and your mother are feeling better and everything is back to normal. Naturally, I am looking forward to doing the Kraft Show next Wednesday and hope that you will be watching. A brand-new record will be introduced on this program. It is called I Told a Lie and will be released in about a week. The other side is Exactly Like You. I hope that you and all the fan club members will start working on this one right away, and let all the disc jockeys know about it. I am very excited about I Told a Lie and feel that it could be a big one. Let me know what you think after the show. Incidentally, I'll also be doing this song on the Big Record over CBS-TV on December 11th. All the best. Cordially,

November 19, 1957
Dear Marle: Just a quick note to say "thank you" for your letter and kind words. Naturally, I am excited about Kraft [Television Theater] tomorrow. I will be introducing my new record I Told a Lie on this show and records will be in all the stores next week. I hope that you and all the fan club members like this record and start requesting it from the disc jockeys. In answer to your question, I have approximately fifty fan club chapters scattered throughout the country. If it is important to you, you can get the names of the various club presidents from Lloyd Leipzig by writing him at 119 West 57th Street in New York. Thanks again and best. Cordially,

Dear Marle: It was nice hearing from you again. I am delighted that you enjoy Exactly Like You and that you are working on it. It seems to be doing better every day. Right now I am busily working on my new album which will be released next year. It is called Sometimes I'm Happy, Sometimes I'm Blue, and it contains six happy tunes and six sad ones. I'll be on The Big Record tomorrow and on the Hit Parade on Saturday as usual, so everything is hectic. Hope this finds you well and happy and you have an enjoyable holiday. As ever,

December 12, 1957
Dear Marle: Thanks again for writing. My new album will be released in March and is called Sometimes I'm Happy, Sometimes I'm Blue. The tunes are:
Nobody's Heart
As for the Hit Parade, we never know the order of the songs or what the rest of the cast is doing until Friday before the show. All I know is that I'm singing April Love and You Send Me. Hope this finds you and your family well. Have a good holiday. Best,
|
December 21, 1957
Dear Marle: Thanks for the letter.
I expect to go home to Pittsburgh for the holidays right after tonight's
show and will not be back until right before the show next week.
If I do not see you, all the best for the holidays. Best,

Dear Marle: Thanks for your note. I trust you had a very happy holiday. My new album will be out about March 1st. As you know, the title is Sometimes I'm Happy, Sometimes I'm Blue, and I'm very proud of it. I am quite surprised that you find it difficult to purchase a copy of Exactly Like You. I do know it is being sold in stores. I would send you a copy, but I do not have even one left. Am singing Daddy and At the Hop this week. Hope you enjoy the show. Best,
|
January 24, 1958
Dear Marle: Thanks for your note. Will be doing All the Way alone and At the Hop and Sugartime as duets on the show this week, but there is a slight possibility that these might be changed just before show time. My new record Give It All You've Got and Uh-Huh - Oh Yeah is out now and I hope you will be working on it right away. Let me know how you like it. All of us on the Hit Parade will be on the Steve Allen Show February 16th, by the way. Well, i'm off to rehearsal. Best of everything, Jill (signed) |
February 6, 1958
Dear Marle: Many thanks for your note. I could not answer it because of my busy schedule the past ten days or so. I am delighted that you are enjoying the record that was sent to you. This week I'll be singing Sugartime and At the Hop so far, but sometimes there is a last minute change. Hope this finds you well. Have to run off to my rehearsals now. Best,
|
March 6, 1958
Dear Marle: Thanks for your note. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying the performances and that all is going well with you. The new album, Sometimes I'm Happy, Sometimes I'm Blue, will be out next week. I hope that you enjoy it. Right now, there are no outside appearances that are scheduled beside the Hit Parade. However, I will be on Bandstand on CBS radio on April 7th. Keep well and all the best to the club members. Cordially,

April 15, 1958
Dear Marle: Thanks for your note. I'm happy that you are enjoying the show. Next week I'll be singing Catch a Falling Star and I Double Dare You. I'm really surprised that you have been unable to get my new album in your town. I know it is on sale everywhere else. The Columbia people say that any store can order it if they have no stock by contacting the Columbia distributor and requesting CL 1095 by Jill Corey - Sometimes I'm Happy, Sometimes I'm Blue. Incidentally, have a new record out this week which I am kind of excited about. It pairs Sweet Sugar Lips and Loveable. Hope you and your club will be working on it. Am doing the Emmy awards show tonight on NBC-TV, then will be on Bandstand over NBC radio on April 28. Thanks again for writing. Best,
|
April 29, 1958
Dear Marle: Thanks for your note. I'm happy that you are enjoying the Hit Parade and like the new record. Will be doing All I Have to Do Is Dream and Elmer's Tune on the show this week. Not too much outside work is scheduled now as I am very busy working on my new night club act for Las Vegas. I am supposed to be on Steve Allen before too long, but a definite date has not been set yet. Have to rush off to rehearsal. All the best,

July 18, 1958
Dear Mr. Becker: Just a note to tell you about the newest Jill Corey recording on the Columbia label, just released. It is called Big Daddy and is Jill's finest performance to date. Naturally, you can help to make it a hit. By writing and phoning requests for Big Daddy to your favorite local disc jockeys and by urging all of your friends and fellow fan club members to do the same, you will be making a very valuable contribution. Jill is currently hard at work in Hollywood on her first movie, Senior Prom, to be released in the fall. However, she extends her best to you and to all the fan club members and hopes that you all will be pitching in to push Big Daddy. Cordially,
